Job summary


Six - Eight sessions available per week required, between core contract hours. We specifically require Friday cover.

In general the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care namely:

  • In person consultations.
  • Telephone consultations.
  • Visiting patients at home and in nursing homes.
  • Checking and signing repeat prescriptions.

  • Dealing with queries, paperwork and
    correspondence as required.

  • All aspects of clinical administration.

  • Contribute to new ideas and be part of the
    Practice Team.



















Main duties of the job


We require GP who is interested in Men's Health

Take accountability for the highest standards
and professional decision making in relation to presenting problems, whether
self-referred or referred from other health care workers across the practice /
PCN.

Screen patients for disease risk factors and
early signs of illness.

Cover all the clinical management of the
patients in surgery as appropriate including initiating investigations,
reviewing results, making referrals to secondary care or to other providers as
appropriate.

Develop care and treatment plans in consultation
with patients and in line with current Practice disease management protocols as
well wider guidance such as that from NICE.

Ensure appropriate follow up of patients.

Record clear and immediate consultation notes to
agreed standards within clinical systems.

Actively participate in clinical audits,
learning events and practice meetings, within a culture of continuous
improvement.

Compile and issue computer-generated acute and
repeat prescriptions avoiding hand-written prescriptions.

Prescribe generically whenever appropriately and
in accordance with the Practice prescribing formulary, NICE guidance and Good
Prescribing Practice (as defined by British National Formulary guidance).

Work with and provide support for other members
of the primary health care team & Federation.

Play a lead role in the practice achieving
agreed and other key performance indicator targets as shaped by the Clinical
Director and Federation team.

We are an innovative and
vibrant General Practice Surgery situated in a new purpose built Hub based in
the heart of Gorton. This Hub offers
Gorton Medical Centre to offer an increase in the number of clinical rooms
which will allow us to recruit more healthcare professionals and members of
staff so that we can offer a wider range of services.

We hope to be able to offer a
range of other services and work collaboratively with other services based
at the Hub.





We have a registered list of around 10,000 patients.
